I am new to Word Press. I have followed a video on using the Awakening theme. When I go to home page, edit …..no sections show up to put the widgets in? How do I put them there? Thank you.
I used wix for the website below which was easy but I’l getting really frustrated with word press
Hi Bev,
Once you install the theme, login to your admin panel and check section Appearance -> Widgets. You will see all the widget areas listed on right hand side. You can drag and drop your widgets in one of those areas. Let me know if this works for you.
I am having trouble with the slider in Awakening. I set the front page up correctly and uploaded the images but they stack and there’s a loading black square above everything…?
It seems you switched theme to Opensstrap.
Have you updated any files? I see lots of Javascript errors. Please see if you can disable your plugins and see if alls working on your site. Then you can activate one plugin at a time.
Dear Team,
I am not very experienced with creating Websites and using WordPress. I like your theme but I am not able to figure out how I can activate the slider. Within the Front page settings I activated the display slider option. Also I uploaded some images and I can see them listed within the front page settings page. I saved the settings but I do not see the any of the pictures. Is there something I do wrong ? For the slider images I did not use the preferred size 1010×400 but used some other formats. Hope you can help me. Many thanks and regards, Wim
Hello Wim,
Have you selected template for your front page from drop down that is available when we create/edit page.
Please choose “Front Page with Slider” template. See below
Hello Pavan,
Many thanks for your quick reply. I had a look but I am missing the options Front page without Slider Template and Front Page With Slider Template. The only one’s I have are the default one’s like Default Template, Front page template, Full Width template, Three column Template, Two Column Left Sidebar. I uninstalled WordPress using my hosting admin tool and installed it again. Then the first thing I did was installing the awakenings theme. But the front page with or without slider options are still missing when creating a new page. Hope you have another suggestion what I can try. Many thanks and regards, Wim
Hello Wim,
I am extremely sorry, I didnt realized the your are using Awakening theme. Please use template “Front Page Template” as its the only one template. Initially I thought you are using my latest theme Openstrap.
Once again sorry for the goofup!
No worries Pavan. I was just starting with WordPress so no issue here. I going to select the Front Page Template option. Thanks and regards, Wim

Hi, the problem is any plugin using jquery (like back to top) the front page slider stops working,
Other than that excellent theme thanks.
It seems like that, I got couple of issues on same. I will work on to solve this and update the theme.
Hello!
Thanks for the great theme. I have two problems though.
1. The drop down menu doesn’t seem to work and the image slider in front page doesn’t seem to work either. Can you please help me?
Thank you.
Best regards
Ann
Hi Ann,
Following was my response to one of the user of theme, if its not too much trouble please try this out-
It seems the JQuery version 1.10.2 on your server is some what different than that is available on Jquery official download page.
Request you to replace the “jquery.js” under “wp-includes\js\jquery” with the latest minified version http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.min.js
Dont forget to rename “jquery-1.10.2.min.js” to “query.js” once you copy it to above folder.
Steps:
1. download http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.min.js
2. copy it to wp-includes\js\jquery\ directory under your wordpress installation directory
3. delete/backup old jquery.js
4. rename jquery-1.10.2.min.js to jquery.js
5. delete browser cache and reload your site
Let me know if this works for you.
Once again thanks for considering my theme for your site.
Hi Pavan
Thank you for your time. I have done everthing you suggested, but it doesn’t work. I downloaded the jquery-1.10.2-file, renamed it and copied it it to wp-includes folder. But it didn’t work.
Best regards
Ann
Hey Ann,
Sorry to hear that :(. I tried to re-produce the issue in my local environment and as soon as I installed “Contact Form 7” I was able to reproduce the issue. I am not sure why this is happening, I will look in to it. Meantime can you try disabling this plugin and give it a try?
Appreciate your patience.
FYI, it didn’t work either.
Maybe I did something wrong along the way?
Hey Ann,
I just checked you site and the slider is working fine. Did you do anything?
Hi Pavan
Strange. The site doesn’t work on my computer, but it works on my iPad. Maybe I need a plugin or a driver installed on my computer.
And the menu on top actually works on the iPad… I deactivated the plugins in wp as you told me to. It still looks a little strange on the iPad, but now I actually have something to work with. Thank you.
🙂
Also I would like you to try out new theme Openstrap. Its also resposive and powerpacked.
Hello Sir,
great theme indeed. Thank you for adding all feature in one powerful theme. I have an issue on the drop down menu. It doesnt seem to work. Did I missed out something ? Please help to advise. The website requires password. I dont mind sharing over a personal email.
Thank you, Sir.

I’m noticing that after installing the Awakening theme, the navigation links at the top DO NOT appear in IE; everything seems to work in Firefox
Hello Rob,
Thanks for trying out the theme, hope you liked it. The theme is developed on top of Foundation 4 Framework, and they have stopped support for IE8 and less. They have provided some grid fall backs though, which is already included in theme. I will see if there is any way I could fix this.
Keep visiting!
